Windsor, ON – The WSO will host students from the Toledo School for the Arts on Friday March 11th. 58 music and choral students under the direction of band director Jay Welenic will make music with students in Windsor and partake in the sights and sounds of Windsor and Amherstburg. This visit has been a dream of the students for over a year! In thinking about their trip to Canada, the Toldeo students’ first request was to try Tim Hortons Timbits!
The students will rehearse with the Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra (WSYO) and conductor Daniel Wiley at the Capitol Theatre on Friday evening. “The students have been rehearsing music created by Canadian composers since the beginning of the school year.” Said Becky Ng, WSO Manager, Education and Outreach. “They’re very excited to perform here in Windsor and with the WSYO.”
The choral students will also practice with Dr. Bruce Kotowich, Director of Choral Activities, and Acting Director, School of Creative Arts (SoCA) on Friday afternoon.
Meet and Greet with Students: Friday March 11th at 4:30pm at the Capitol Theatre. Timbits will be served and supplied by local Windsor/Essex Tim Hortons owners!
