The WSO Future Fund

The WSO Future Fund

The WSO, like other orchestras, relies on a mix of ticket sales, grants, and community support to connect people through music. To protect the WSO from the fluctuations in revenue sources, donations are critical.

One way to provide financial security to the Orchestra in good times and bad, year after year, is to Leave a Legacy with the WSO Future Fund.

The Future Fund is an endowment fund and works by investing gifts in perpetuity. Each year, a portion of the Future Fund’s investment revenue is paid to the WSO to support annual operations for mainstage concerts, exceptional projects, education programs, and community outreach.

In this way, a gift to the Future Fund is a forever gift. The original investment cannot be touched, and the revenue supports the WSO for generations to come.

A Legacy Gift demonstrates your belief in the importance of the WSO in the community, our role as a community builder and cultural hub, and the life-changing impact of connecting with others through music.

How to Leave a Legacy with the WSO

A Legacy Gift can be made to the WSO Future Fund directly, or through Planned Giving options.

Planned Giving includes naming the WSO as the beneficiary of your will, insurance policy, or registered retirement fund, or a donation of stocks and other securities. These options often offer a variety of tax advantages as well.

In 2023, there is also an opportunity to have your Legacy Gift matched through the Endowment Incentives program with the Department of Canadian Heritage.
