Windsor, ON – The Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has received a $100,000 gift from the Toldo Foundation toward its endowment fund. The fund, called the Future Fund, provides financial security in good times and bad, year after year, to protect the future of the WSO for the next generation of music lovers.
The gift was announced at the performances of Charlotte Knights Sings Broadway, a program from the Toldo Pops concert series that featured talented students from St. Clair College’s Music Theatre Performance program. Alex Toldo, a trustee of the Toldo Foundation, shared that the gift commemorates the WSO’s 75th anniversary, and that support for the WSO is crucial to keep music alive in Windsor Essex.
“On behalf of the Toldo Foundation, we are proud to lead the campaign to grow the WSO endowment to $10 million and ensure the future of our Orchestra for years to come. More than a gift, our recent contribution is an investment in the success of the WSO in our community for our children, grandchildren, and future generations,” said Toldo.
“Music is an important part of the fabric of life in Windsor Essex and we invite everyone to join the Toldo Foundation in supporting the WSO endowment today.”
The WSO’s endowment fund works by investing gifts in perpetuity. Each year, a portion of the Future Fund’s investment revenue is paid to the WSO to support annual operations for mainstage concerts, education programs, and community outreach. The current value of the fund is close to 4 million dollars.
“The WSO is grateful for the support of the Toldo Foundation, and for their many contributions to the community of Windsor Essex and beyond,” said Deborah Severs, President of the WSO Board of the Directors. “Continuing the legacy of Anthony Toldo Sr., we thank the Toldo Foundation for their remarkable leadership in growing our endowment and leading the charge to secure the future of the WSO.”
The Toldo Foundation hopes their gift will encourage WSO supporters and community members to support the WSO with their own gift to the endowment. Gifts can be made to the fund directly, by designating the WSO in a will, insurance policy, or registered retirement fund, and more.
