Opening Weekend brings together Pianist Extraordinaire and Musical Masterpieces!

Windsor, ON – This weekend the Windsor Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2023-2024 concert season with musical masterpieces! Maestro Robert Franz leads the orchestra for the opening weekend concert Pictures at an Exhibition, featuring world renowned Canadian pianist, Alain Lefèvre.

Alain performs music from the beautiful movie starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, Somewhere in Time. Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini’s famous 18th variation will melt your heart. This is paired with the orchestral tour-de-force, Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, which brings to the stage musical depictions of artwork by the composer’s friend, Viktor Hartmann.

Maestro Robert Franz says, “I am so excited to open our season with these two musical masterpieces. Both works are show pieces for the orchestra, exciting for the audience and a truly enveloping sonic experience. Add to that a performance by one of the top pianists alive today and this is a weekend of concerts not to be missed.”
