Maestro Franz presented a two-hour conducting workshop for students of the Greater Essex County District School Board. The workshop took place after school, online via Teams. Forty-two students signed up and attended. They heard Robert’s story on how he became a conductor. The students had lively comments and questions and loved hearing Robert’s story. The students learned the connection between good listening skills and good leadership, the importance of being resilient, and having a reason; a “why” for everything they do. They also learned how to foster an environment that allows others to be their most creative. For example, Robert mentioned that a good relationship with the orchestra is very important. When working together a good relationship will help the orchestra to feel less stressed, which allows them to be more creative and wiling to be more open to trying new things and playing their best.
An incredible afternoon was spent with some wonderful students. Thank you to the Greater Essex County District School Board for including Maestro Franz and the WSO in their students’ learning!
