OCAF grant helps WSO market 75th season to community!

Windsor, ON – The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF), has awarded the Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) a $50,000 grant investment to support the promotion and marketing of the orchestra’s 75th Anniversary season in Windsor Essex.

“This grant is very important to the WSO. It will allow us to celebrate with our community, our patrons and business partners, in a way that we would not have been able to do without it. 75 years is quite a milestone; this grant gives us a chance to make events and activities very special; it gives us a way to say thank you to our community!” says Sheila Wisdom, WSO Executive Director. “We’ll be reaching out past our standard marketing and advertising, into other markets, across the border and up the 401 in attempts to attract visitors to our area to share in our 75th Anniversary.”

OCAF grants aim to increase cultural tourism by providing investments to assist Ontario cultural organizations to promote, market and present one-off or first-time events, which are designed to attract new tourists and visitors to cultural events. OCAF supports events that foster economic growth.

“Our government’s financial support for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, is incredible news that will assist Maestro Franz, Executive Director Sheila Wisdom, and the entire WSO team deliver the WSO’s celebratory seventy-fifth season of community-focused events in both Windsor and in Tecumseh,” says Windsor—Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. “I very much look forward to joining with our residents as they take part in the symphony’s program for this year, and I thank Premier Ford, Minister Lumsden and the Ontario Government very much for their support of an invaluable and respected community partner.”

The WSO is committed to connecting the people of Windsor and Essex County through the power and passion of music. If you wish to enquire about our 2022/2023 Season concerts, WSO news, and our education and community outreach programs, please visit the website at: www.windsorsymphony.com
