New Assistant Conductor Takes the Stage!

Windsor, ON – This Sunday the new Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) Assistant Conductor Francisco Hernández Bolaños will conduct his first concert with the Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestras at their Fall Concert.

Both the WSO Junior and Youth Orchestras will perform a selection that includes Boccherini, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Leonard Bernstein, and more, along with a nod to Francisco’s heritage, a composition from a Mexican composer inspired by traditional Mexican music.

Francisco Hernández Bolaños says, “I’m looking forward to having our first concert together on Sunday. We’ve been working hard for the last 2 months, and we’re excited to share our music with our audience! I’m very proud of the student’s dedication to music and all that we have accomplished together!”

About Francisco: Mexican conductor and pianist Francisco Hernández Bolaños was the previous Artistic Director of the State of Veracruz Youth Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Conductor with orchestras at Arizona State University, the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras, and the School of Music of the University of Veracruz Symphony Orchestra. Francisco is passionate about all types of music including traditional Mexican music. He enjoys good coffee in the company of wonderful people and enjoys food from different cultures.

About the WSYO: The WSYO and WSJYO (Junior Youth) exist to help young people develop their talent and realize their full potential through performing orchestral music at a high calibre. Being part of the orchestras is not just about the music, it also involves teamwork, leadership and dedication to the program and the musician’s craft.

Francisco is available for interviews this Friday and Saturday. Rehearsal will take place on Sunday from 1-5pm at the Capitol Theatre.
