The WSO’s coziest tradition is back! Join the WSO at the 11th annual
Midwinter Musical Feast on Thursday, February 23rd at Nico Taverna.

Each year, the WSO Family gets together in the coldest months of the year to warm up with a glass of wine, a delicious meal, wonderful music, and great company.

This year’s featured performers are WSO Assistant Concertmaster Konstantin Popović on violin and Michael Karloff on piano.

Dinner Options Include:

Beef Short Ribs braised in espresso, Barolo wine, and Amarena cherry over mash potatoes with crispy onions and rapini.

Maple-glazed Salmon encrusted with pistachio and roasted over coconut-curry lentil stew and roasted fennel.

Fire-roasted Vegetables – heirloom carrots, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower – tossed with gorgonzola, smoky mojo sauce, pecans and truffle honey.

Each dinner includes additional courses, wine, and dessert.

Parking is available in Nico Taverna’s private lot.


Konstantin Popović, violin

Konstantin Popović began his violin studies at the age of five in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and immigrated to Toronto, Canada where he continued his studies at the University of Toronto in the music performance department under Leo Wigdorchik.

After graduating he extended his orchestral studies as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and National Academy Orchestra. As a member of the National Youth Orchestra, he toured major Canadian cities and numerous countries in Europe and Asia.

In 2000, Konstantin became the Assistant Concertmaster of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. That year, he won an equivalent position in Sinfonia Toronto.

Of all his achievements Mr. Popović puts most value on the arrivals of his children Dimitri and Tatiana and is immeasurably grateful to his wife Dawn for all her support.

Michael Karloff, piano

Michael Karloff is a multi-talented pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and musical director based in Windsor. He performs regularly as both a collaborative pianist and jazz pianist.

Michael frequently performs with The Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Light Music Theatre, 4th Wall Music, and Jazz at Mackenzie Hall.

Recent performance credits include, An Evening With Renee Fleming (The Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra), Jazz: Swinging Through The Decades (The Heritage Room), Greatest Hits Live: 10 Year Anniversary Concert (as arranger and conductor), Elf The Musical (Windsor Light Music Theatre). Michael’s original compositions and arrangements have been performed by The Windsor Symphony Orchestra, at The Detroit Jazz Festival and in various concert settings in Windsor.

Michael is a faculty member and musical director in The Department of Music Theatre Performance at St. Clair College. He also serves on the faculty in The School of Creative Arts at The University of Windsor as the instructor for jazz piano, jazz combos and advanced skills.


Midwinter Musical Feast was created by Barb Kuker, former WSO Board President, to bring together WSO supporters for a delicious meal, great music, and to raise funds in support of the WSO’s Education and Community Outreach work in Windsor Essex.
