Time: 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations is a playful nod to his circle of friends and family. After Elgar’s wife said, “I like that tune,” he composed 14 variations of a melody, each inspired by those closest to him, creating one of the greatest compositions of the 19th century. Most notable in the middle of this work is the famous Nimrod Variation. Plus, experience Jean Sibelius’ musical depiction of the landscape of Finland with his Concerto in D minor. This violin concerto sits at the pinnacle of his mastery.

Robert Franz, conductor
Roni Shitrit, violin

Program
Jean Sibelius: Concerto in D minor for Violin & Orchestra
Edward Elgar: Enigma Variations (Variations on an Original Theme)
