Education tour brings joy of music to Windsor Essex youth

Windsor– The Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is bringing live music directly to students across Windsor and Essex County this week as it embarks on its final school tour of the season, including a special, accessible performance at John McGivney Children’s Centre.

School performances are presented in partnership with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and the Greater Essex County District School Board; the tour reflects a shared commitment to equitable access to the arts.

A key stop on the tour is John McGivney Children’s Centre, a rehabilitation centre serving children and youth with diverse needs. The WSO performance has been adapted to support accessibility and inclusion, including low lighting and other sensory accommodations. Families and siblings have also been invited to attend, creating a shared musical experience that extends beyond the classroom.

“We believe every child deserves access to live music, and school performances are an essential part of making that possible,” says Rebecca Ng, Manager of Education and Outreach for the WSO. “The welcome we receive from students and staff is incredibly meaningful, and it’s especially important to us to create inclusive, accessible experiences where all children can engage with live music.”
