The Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestras help young people develop their talent and realize their full potential through high caliber performance experiences. Participation in the Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra program is not just about the music; it also involves teamwork, leadership, and dedication to your craft. The WSYOs develop essential lifelong skills and habits in a supportive and joyous musical environment. If you love to play an instrument, we have a place for you!
The WSYOs are led by Geoffrey Larson, Resident Conductor of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
WSYO is a full orchestra for musicians age 13 to 22 or those who have reached a skill level equivalent to Suzuki Book 5. All families of instruments are included in the WSYO, including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The WSYO performs standard repertoire of all eras.
WSJYO is an orchestra of flexible instrumentation for musicians beginning at age 9 or those who have reached a skill level between Suzuki Book 2-5. Though the WSJYO is primarily a string ensemble but all instruments are welcome.
