Black History Month and the WSO

Windsor, ON – The Windsor Symphony Orchestra celebrates Black History Month in and around Windsor Essex.

Francisco Hernández Bolaños conducts the WSO at the Family Concert “Singing with Flo”. Joining the WSO is talented local vocalist and rising star Florine Ndimubandi, and the talented singers of the Windsor Essex Youth Choir for a concert that highlights the brilliance of black composers.

Audiences will hear music from Scott Joplin, Joseph Bologne, and Oscar Peterson. These concerts are for the whole family to enjoy. Plus… sing along to pieces like “This Little Light of Mine” and “Oh Happy Day.” Family Concerts take place at the Capitol Theatre, and the Amherstburg Freedom Museum.

Maestro Robert Franz and the WSO perform again at the end of February, bringing to Amherstburg pieces of music from 3 great composers of the 18th century. Jean-Philippe Rameau, Joseph Cassaneà de Mondonville and Korin Thomas-Smith performs Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
