Sharing the gift of music honors anniversary of Music Director’s passing

WINDSOR – Sharing the beauty of live music was a passion of former Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) Music Director Robert Franz.

Patti Lauzon, WSO executive director.

On the first anniversary of his passing, the WSO honored Franz by gifting staff at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Cancer Program tickets for the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

“This is something that Robert felt strongly about,” said WSO executive director, Patti Lauzon. “He wanted to share the WSO experience with Cancer Program staff to thank them for the care he received during his journey.”

Franz passed on September 2, 2025, at the age of 57 from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In his memory, members of the WSO presented complimentary ticket vouchers to the 200 staff at the Cancer Program this morning.

“Robert wanted to come to the hospital and give tickets to the team here. He spoke about it many times last summer,” Lauzon said.

“He was so deeply grateful for the compassion and care he received.”

Windsor Regional Hospital’s Cancer Program offers patients and families a broad range of cancer services, serving more than 90,000 patient visits annually.
