In the early 1890s\, Elgar was not yet a household name\, and he was struggling to gain recognition and find a stable place in the competitive world of music.\nFlorence Price was one of the first African American women to gain recognition as a classical composer. The Andante moderato is a perfect example of her beautiful orchestral writing.\nThe Siegfried Idyll was composed by Richard Wagner as a personal gift for his wife\, Cosima\, in 1870. It was intended as a celebration of the birth of their son\, Siegfried\, and was originally performed as a private birthday present for Cosima on Christmas morning.\n\nThis concert is 60 minutes.
