Michael Richard Plowman
For the past 25 years, composer Michael Richard Plowman has been composing award winning and internationally recognized music, touching audiences in over 120 countries.
His passion for creativity began in his birth place of England where he learned to play the trumpet at the early age of three. Plowman's love and talent of music quickly grew, as did his aspirations. He began teaching himself different orchestral instruments. Over the course of his school years, Plowman was a member of jazz and rock groups, playing gigs at local clubs, and at 14 landed his first commercial television job. At 16 he received a recording contract and produced his first album, "The Now Sounds of Today"
Plowman continued his musical training at universities in both Canada and the United States. He began conducting and touring worldwide with various orchestras, then moved into theatre, composing and conducting dozens of plays.
Composing for film, television and games has always been his ambition. He works with many of the major players in the industry world wide; including Sony Pictures Television, BBC, Cartoon Network, WB, 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, MTV, Nickelodeon, A&E, Discovery, Animal Planet & Stephen King.
"Working in film, television and games has given me the opportunity to explore many new musical styles and techniques," says Plowman. "Every production is unique and providing an original score is essential."
With over 500 credits to date in live-action, animation, film and games. Plowman continues to create symphonic adventures in his own style for the absolute entertainment experience.
Journey to the center was inspired by the works of Jules Verne. My objective in this composition was to take the listener on a journey of color, drama and emotion. "Journey" is based in 5 joining parts each depicting one of the many adventures Jules Verne took his reader on. Part one is "Journey To The Center Of The Earth". This very aggressive music ride gives the listener the feelings of the frenetic motions his characters we taken on. Part Two "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea" This Magically driven movement gives the listener the feelings of floating under the sea of Verne's paradise. Part Three "Mysterious Island" A very different unnerving movement with interjections of danger and wonder without the listener knowing. Part Four " Around The World In Eighty Days" This movement is what I call tense beauty. Lush melodic line that lead into the unknown. Part Five is a recap of Part One building to an epic finish, then lulling the listening only to let them know you are never truly safe in the magical worlds of Jules Verne.
