Endowments
Endowments help to ensure the financial stability of the WSO in to the future. Gifts made to an endowment are invested, and the principal remains intact in perpetuity or for a defined time period – just the interest generated is spent. This allows for the donation to have a much greater impact over a long period of time than if it were spent all at once.
The Windsor Symphony Orchestra participates in endowment “matching funds” programmes. For every dollar our supporters contribute, various funding agencies will kick in additional funds - making the original gift go that much further.
Endowments can be made to a general operating fund or directed to a specific purpose like endowing a chair. Endowing a musician’s chair in your name or in memory of a loved one is a special way to immortalize your gift. Your donation would be placed in an endowment fund and the interest earned would be used to pay that player’s salary.
