Learning with the WSO

Want to bring some classical to your classroom? The WSO has a variety of programs for different age groups! Education programming is a central focus for the WSO, because we know firsthand the amazing impact that music education has on students. From active listening to emotional regulation, from patterning to literacy, music has something to offer all your students. Concert programs are prepared to meet curriculum needs, and target priorities identified by local school boards. All of our concerts help your students develop their active listening skills, as well as learning about audience etiquette.

Maestro Franz leads a workshop on stage at the Capitol Theatre

Learn along with us!

Every year, the WSO hosts two side-by-side workshops for high school bands and orchestras. High school students can sit with and learn from their professional counterpart. To qualify, your school must have hosted a Maestro Visit, and must attend an education concert at the Capitol Theatre on the day of their workshop. To enquire about side-by-side workshops, please email education@windsorsymphony.com.

How much do WSO Education programs cost?

The WSO strives to provide professional musical experiences for students at a price that is affordable and equitable. Our standard charge for an in-school concert is $650, and we charge $5 per student for field trips to the Capitol theatre. These charges include HST and help (but do not completely) cover the cost of paying musicians’ time, renting a vehicle to transport our equipment, maintaining the Capitol Theatre, and the time it takes for our staff to prepare sheet music, seating plans, and other important details.

It is important to us that all students in Windsor and Essex County have access to WSO Education programs. Let us work with you to find a price point that works for your budget! For information on discounts and compensatory rates, please email education@windsorsymphony.com.
