To better serve our community, the WSO is committed to spreaking its music beyond the walls of the concert hall. With the generous support of some of our sponsors, we've created programs and events to help touch the lives of those eager to learn more and those who not yet have had an opportunity to experience the power and energy of live orchestral music.
Each year the Windsor Symphony Orchestra creates an education concert specifically geared towards older children and tied in to the Ontario curriculum. This very special concert is often tied to one of our main performances, featuring compositions and sometimes soloists that will be performing with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra on its Pops or Masterworks series concerts.

The Windsor Symphony Orchestra will perform 20 concerts with a full orchestra for elementary schools from February 28 to April 13. These concerts, including two performances in French, will take place in churches, schools and concert halls throughout Windsor-Essex in an effort to bring down costs incurred by individual schools for bussing students to a central location.
The WSO Intact Insurance Education Concert series consists of ten performances each of two programs created specifically for targeted grade ranges and feature an education guide with background information and activities tied to the Ontario curriculum:
For the second year in a row, the WSO is working with Learning Through The Arts (LTTA) in a collaboration sponsored by the Royal Conservatory of Music. Award-winning LTTA puppeteer Matthew Romain has been working with Grades 3 & 4 classes from McGregor Public School, Princess Elizabeth, St. Christopher Catholic Elementary, John Campbell Elementary, Tecumseh Vista Academy, and Ruthven Public School since November, 2011, to create a puppet show for Peter and the Wolf that will be performed for selected Wild & Wacky Woodwinds concert dates. Special guest narrators for Peter & the Wolf include Walkerville student Shane Nelson, CTV news anchor Jim Crichton and CBC-Radio Canada host Lisette Leboeuf.
Featured on Canadian Music, Eh? is Adam Iannetta, a bass-baritone singer at the University of Windsor School of Music with choirs from Conseil scolaire de district des ecoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest schools run by Corinne Veronneau. Iannetta and the choirs will be singing a Windsor-Essex folk medley featuring songs celebrating the history of Windsor/Essex County. Native drummer Theresa Sims will join the WSO with a demonstration of First Nations drumming traditions. Also on this concert is a composition by Eric Swiatoschik (swa-toss-chick), a student at Walkerville Collegiate Institute and a member of the Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra.
