S1E6: In the first of three concerts celebrating Beethoven 250, WSO Music Director Robert Franz explores the genius of Ludwig van Beethoven and his String Quartet No. 11 Op. 95 arranged for string orchestra by Gustav Mahler. Beethoven had a profound understanding of all the orchestral instruments, leading to incredible compositions including his Trio for Two Oboes and English Horn Op. 87. Meet the soloists as Oboists Graham Mackenzie and Ron Cohen Mann, and English Horn Faith Scholfield join Maestro Franz in conversation.
Episode 6 Add-On Feature:
As a special offer, the WSO has partnered with local wineries to have wine perfectly paired with each Beethoven 250 concert. Just as a great food and wine pairing enhance a dining experience, the musical notes of our Beethoven 250 concerts compliment the tasting notes of Essex County vintners!
