
WINDSOR SYMPHONY CONFIRMS NOVEMBER 4th CONCERT
AT TECUMSEH’S STE. ANNE’S CHURCH
(Windsor, Ontario – October 30, 2007) After careful consultation with the leadership of Tecumseh’s historic Ste. Anne’s Church, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that the Sunday, November 4th opening of its Sunday Classics Series will go on as planned.
As noted in today’s newspapers, engineers successfully removed the steeple of the 134 year old church late on Monday.
The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is committed to connecting with all parts of its community, and greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve Tecumseh audiences in this historic and acoustically engaging landmark building.
The WSO’s Sunday Classics Series, sponsored at Ste. Anne’s Church by the Town of Tecumseh, will open its season of Sunday evening performances on November 4th at 7:30 p.m. The program, entitled “Trumpet Glory,” is conducted by Music Director John Morris Russell and features WSO principal Ross Turner as solo trumpet. The music, part of the orchestra’s Bach & Beyond Series, includes baroque masterpieces by Handel, Purcell, Torelli, Clarke and Boyce.
Future performances in the series, all at 7:30 p.m., are:
? Sunday, February 17, 2008 -- Brandenburg Concerto,
featuring music of Bach, Handel, Grieg & Sibelius.
? Sunday, April 6, 2008 -- Tchaikovsky’s Serenade
Tickets for the above concerts are $25, $20 for seniors and students.
Additionally, the Town of Tecumseh Christmas Concert, Sunday, December 9th at 7:30 p.m. will feature John Morris Russell leading the WSO String Orchestra. Tickets for this are $20 for adults, and $16 for seniors, students and youth.
