In the event that the advertised position is filled by a current member of the orchestra, this newly vacant position may be offered to the runner up. Lots will be drawn at 9:00 a.m. Auditions will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 - International auditions for Principal Horn will be held at All Saints’ Church, Windsor
Tuesday, April 7, 2009 - National auditions for Principal Viola will be held at Assumption University Chapel, Windsor
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 - International auditions for Section Violin will be held at Assumption University Chapel, Windsor
Season: 33 weeks, September to May, comprised of masterworks, chamber orchestra, contemporary, family, educational, pops and small ensemble services.
Remuneration: Master Agreement is under negotiation. Currently:
Principal Horn: 150 Services guaranteed at $128.13 plus 7.0% pension.
Principal Viola: 220 Services guaranteed at $128.13 plus 7.0% pension
Section Violin: 50 Services guaranteed at $102.50 plus 7.0% pension.
The musicians of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra are Canadian members of the American Federation of Musicians. Principal Viola audition is National; all applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants eligible to work in Canada. Principal Horn audition and Section Violin audition (2 positions) are International, and all applicants are eligible. Please note that Per Service personnel are eligible for travel compensation and hotel accommodations when necessary.
